
Prof. V. G. Talawar
Former Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore, Prof. Talawar was born on June 1, 1950, in Jikanur village, Belgaum District, as the son of a farmer who rose to academic distinction through dedication and excellence. A Gold Medalist from Bangalore University (1978), he began his career at Bharat Electronics Ltd., Bengaluru, where he served for over a decade. He later contributed significantly to Mangalore University before joining the University of Mysore, where he has held various key positions over the past 17 years, including Registrar and Director of the Academic Staff College. An accomplished scholar in Library and Information Science, Prof. Talawar has authored 12 books, 46 monographs, and 54 articles. His notable work, The Legacy of Learning (2002), offers a comprehensive history and future vision for the University of Mysore. He has guided 15 research scholars and is a life member of several library associations. As the Founder President of ASIST Bangalore, he has played a pivotal role in the academic community. Recognized by the Government of Karnataka, Prof. Talawar has also represented India on professional assignments in the USA and UK.
