Prof. T. D. Kemparaju

Prof. T. D. Kemparaju was appointed as the First Vice-Chancellor of Bangalore North University in 2017. He began his career as a Lecturer in 1981 at Bangalore University, and rose to the rank of Professor in 2002, amassing 37 years of teaching and 32 years of research experience. He has guided 9 Ph.D. scholars and is currently supervising 8 more, completed two major UGC- and DRDO-funded research projects, published over 62 research papers in reputed journals and conference proceedings, delivered more than 15 keynote addresses, and chaired several technical sessions at national and international forums. His administrative service includes over 12 years as Professor and Chairman of the Department, Director of PMEB, Director of Distance Education, Registrar of Bangalore University and Mangalore University, along with leadership roles in numerous academic committees including BOS, BOE, NAAC, and UGC-NET Programme coordination. He has also been Chairman or Member of committees for fee review, admission guidelines, semester scheme implementation, Indian Science Congress, RUSA, and salary rationalisation, and has contributed to the Statute Review Committee and the Karnataka State Private Universities Review Committee. His expertise has been sought nationally, serving as BOS/BOE member in over 15 universities, selection panel member for NAL, ISRO, UPSC, SSC, and KPSC, and as an expert for the New Education Policy under MHRD, Government of India. Internationally, he has visited institutions such as Peking University (China), National University of Singapore, Mahasarakham University and Khonkaen University (Thailand), and the National Open University (Bangkok) for academic and research engagements. In corporate academic life, he has served as President of the Bangalore University Teachers’ Council, Secretary of the Federation of University Teacher Associations of Karnataka, President of the Indian Association of Teachers of Library & Information Science, Secretary of the same association, and President of the Karnataka State Library Association.
