
Prof. B. S. Kesavan
India’s first National Librarian and founder of INSDOC, Prof. Kesavan helped modernize the National Library and introduced bibliographic control standards in India. He was instrumental in establishing national-level documentation and scientific information services. He is also known as the Father of the Indian National Bibliography. Prof. Kesavan was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1960.
